How do I create custom fields?

Updated: Sat, Jan 28th, 2017 @ 3:26pm
A custom field is any extra "special" information that you’d like to track about your clients. It can be text, a number, or even a True/False. For example, you may need to track your clients’ CustomerID or their StudentID. You may need to keep track of their secondary mobile phone number. Or you might even need to track their industry or whether or not they have bought from you before.

You can modify these options or add you own using the form customization tool.

The form editor has Preview and Add Row buttons available in the top right. A ‘row’ provides the wrapper, which the form fields can be placed within. This allows you to structure your forms in a way, which makes sense for your business.

Above the form template is a grouping of customization options called ‘Customize Form’ which contains the various field types. These are:

  1. Single Line – Commonly used for search, name, date picker or address fields and other data that will not contain line breaks.
  2. Large Text Area – Commonly used for descriptions or fields that require a text editor.
  3. Drop down – Commonly used to limit available options.
  4. Multiple Select – Commonly used to limit available options while allows multiple to be selected.
  5. Yes/No – Commonly used for Boolean values and represented as toggle switch.
  6. Radio – Commonly used to limit available options to single selection while viewing all as list.
  7. Header – Keep track of your fields by using a header to provide an overview of the column

You can also define if a field is required and what data point should be targeted. New user-defined fields can also be created to capture any data point that matters to your business.

To add a new field to your form locate the ‘Customize Form’ grouping above the form template and drag and drop the field type you would like to add to the form. An outline will display the position on the form where your field will be dropped.

Have ideas for more columns that would be useful? Please send us a request!

To delete an existing field drag and drop the field into the ‘Remove’ wrapper located in the ‘Customize Form’ grouping. Any data will still be stored and can be recovered by selecting the ‘Field’ option drop down and selecting that column when creating a new field or editing an existing.
